What don't you like about the vintage ones? This may help people offer alternatives.

I'm really struggling to find one that I like, granted I haven't tried them all but 50% is how the razor looks too

The R41 in rose gold looks ace in my opinion.

    Luckily I think they're beautiful:

  7. iKon Deluxe, Timeless and Blackbird all do open combs. I own the first two and like them a lot.

  8. Above the Tie make particularly good open comb razors. @Boru62 , spot on with the vintage OC's...;)

Giesen and Forsthoff (Timor) in Germany have an open comb model -the 1350K, the 1353K and the 1354K. Presumably the head is the same and the difference is in the handles. I have no personal experience with this model though although I have been tempted to buy one in the past.

My most used DE razor this year (15 shaves!!! - I'm an SE guy) is a Seygus Brass OC razor.
    I really like it.

  11. IKON Shavecraft 101. It's mild but effective. One side is OC, so best of both worlds.
I rotate this with my NEW LC, and a Fatboy.
IKON is a tad friendlier than the NEW and shaves nicely.

R41 is not an open comb. It's a solid bar with teeth. Its purely aesthetic.

Pearl Open Comb aka Razorock Jaws, Charcoal Standard OC and other brandings is excellent. Unlike the similarly designed and more expensive Fatip, the chrome plating stays on the razor.

FaTip can look pretty sweet if you swap in a different handle...

Regarding vintage have you tried a "NEW". This one is a 1930's "Short Comb" with a "Common Bar" handle. Very smooth and easy shave.
bb.JPG Of course if you want the "Real McCoy" have you tried an early 1900's Old Type?

Have you had a chance to use the Saiver 2.0 work with just the one blade opposed to the one full blade & 2 halves? If so how was it?

I have not. I just got it and just used the two blades. I'll give it a try with one.

That's a beautiful example of a single ring, my favourite DE razor to date.
Yet to try a thick cap, some seem to prefer them.
Have you, if so, which do you prefer?
