Hone Type 15-Second Batch

Maybe if we call @Hone and see if there are any changes? Hopefully he'll be able to clear things up?

TBH Andrew designed the razor to mild. I must admit it's (aggression/efficiently) is the one thing I have reservations about. Ok, that and the weight.

I think it looks very cool, add that to the heat retention and the patina effect and it all adds up to something I'm prepared to take a punt on.

I think you are quite correct in saying that the best way to see if there had been any changes would be to contact Hone direct however he was talking about the award winning design of the 15 and had there been any changes to the geometry of the head it would not be the same razor he was talking about, it would be a 15 b or something similar. As I said before, Im sure Andrew would have been only too keen to tell us about a significant change. I believe it is a new batch of the original 15 because he had sold the first batch and needed to have more made. The only change mentioned was the ability to now order a 100mm handle should you wish to.

The only changes are you can now have a 100mm handle if you wish.
It is only a new batch because he had sold out of the original batch and had to have these made.
I'm sure if there had been any changes to the razor he would have said in the email /News letter Andrew sent to @Blackmass.

I ran out of time, hence the elipsis. I was going to add what you have said ... :D

Hello, as you can probably tell given the message above I've been a little busy. Just logged on for the first time in ages and seen this thread :) Thanks for all the interest.

So this is the same Type 15 as before, with the option of a 100mm handle as I haven't been able to keep them in stock on the aluminium version. (There is slight weight penalty for the longer handle but it does pull the balance towards you, if that makes sense)

With batch manufacturing, one great aspect is that experience from the previous production run, combined with a larger batch size offer the chance to improve and refine small aspects (Avoiding a pun on the brand name there ;)) but the Type 15 will remain the same mild shave that I got such great feedback on.

I think the mildness of the Type 15 filled a good spot for many, and it won't be moving away from there. The 15a has received some great feedback too, so I will of course use this to inform future products. As the two razors are so close and share so many traits there are some aspects to the production that make sense to apply on this new batch of Type 15 razors too but they are still their own thing.

If I was to change anything that would affect the personality of the razor it would get a new version number, and I would be trying to tell you all about it :) For instance I have made big improvements to the packaging and shipping of the razors, the presentation and protection is much better, but still easy to recycle and no plastic

If you have any other questions I would be happy to answer as always :)

My question for you Andrew is when can we expect the next new razor from you (Hone) and can you give me /us a clue as to what that razor will be like?
All the best going forward, Paul

Firstly, I am pleased to say YES there will be new razors in the future. :) I think that my intention is that any future razor with a new version number should offer a unique experience and personality compaired to the others in the range. There might be brand traits and styling cues that are carried over such as being CNC machined or fit and finish, but I think fundamentally there should also be some differentiation between them in the shave feel and experience. I want to create a range. The only caveat is, it is only me so please be patient :)

Thankyou Andrew, I and many others I'm sure are eagerly looking forward to your next razor in the Hone line up and am sure it will be made to the high standards of your first two creations.
wishing you good luck for the future of Hone.

Thanks for the response Andrew, I'm looking forward to both the new Type 15 batch and the new "mystery" razor.
Do we have a rough estimate as far as the date is concerned?

An interesting addition would be the option of buying only the handle (for those who are uncertain about the handle length).
What would, in my opinion, complete the whole package is a matching stand...

...am I asking too much Andrew?
