Hi,

Signed up the other day, and have just gotten around to introducing myself and saying hello to you all.

I'm not entirely new to shaving using a safety razor although the last time I used one was back in the 80's, since then it's been disposable cartridge type razors all the way.

There's a longer version of this story but as it's an introduction I'll spare you all from the details and keep it short-ish!

I've recently returned to using a safety razor, brush and soap, results are a bit mixed but as I continue to read and watch I'm getting the hang of things, the biggest issue is having to develop restraint, as I could quite easily spend a small fortune on all sorts of items and this forum is awash with goodies that my hard earned could easily be spent on.

Anyhow on that basis and also on the fact that I might not want to continue with the wet shave way of things I've spent as little as possible, some of you might be saying that it's a false economy but it makes things more of a challenge, don't get me wrong if I stick at it I will invest in better gear but at the moment I'm just at the “dipping my toe in the water” stage. I did purchase a sample range of blades which came the other day (thanks Connaught) and I'm eager to begin my testing.
