Gem Featherweight First Shave

I tried the Gem Feather Weight razor this evening with fresh blades from Connaught. I had a 6 day stubble, which probably was a mistake. It was very audible, the angle seem quite intuitive. Anyway as with most first shaves, I bottled it and finished off with a Type L and a Mach 3. I think 2 to 3 days growth would be the max until I know what I am doing. Anyway a better first shave than with the Core.

It is a pretty mild razor but a great introduction to the world of vintage SEs.

I have been a DE shaver since 1991, Injector since 2008, Shavette/Weck 2008, Straight 2009, AC 2011, Durham Duplex 2012.

I did buy a Push Button two years ago, but I have never opened it. Last year I got the Core. So non injector SE's are the last frontier. Well so are straights as they scared me to death .

I've never tried an SR nor a shavette but I tend to prefer SEs to DEs.
My favourite of the vintage ones is now the Streamline but the British 1912 is up there.

The ER 1912 is my favourite razor, never fails to give me an effortless, irritation free close shave.

I am interested in getting a Clog Pruf or another Push Button.

The Pushbutton is another mild shave, the Clog Pruf is very good, though of the Micromatics the OC is my favourite.

Not so long back, I emerged from a couple of weeks of 'flu with a bushy face which was scythed off in one with an Ever Ready Featherweight and fresh GEM blade. Lovely shave, that.

Have another play and see if you can finish off the shave ... it'll become a good friend, I'm sure.

Well I gave it another go this evening. A full first pass WTG except under the nose. I finished off with a Mach3. I am a bit sore, but it that could just be my Rosacea.

The Feather Weight is a Great Wee Shaver..Unlike the 1912, 1914, 1924 Etc..It was Specifically Designed for a Current Gem Blade..The Former were Designed for Stropping Blades..

Its an Efficient Wee Razor..

I haven't tried the Featherweight, but my Gem Natural Angle/Flat Head Top is one of my favourites. I reckon this must have been made for the current generation of Gem blades too, Billy?
