Feather razors. Are they 'all that'?

Not possible. What special passes are you making with an R41 which remove the stubble that a Tech cant take off???

If the blade is on your face in the tech, it will shave it as close as possible. Second and third passes are for using a different direction to remove hair which wasn't cut sufficiently in the first direction. The R41 can't magically take the hair off closer to the skin using the same blade.

Now, maybe the different style of blade in the Cobra can take off more hair as it's stiffer or something... maybe.

I can get just as good a 2 pass shave with a Tech as I can with a Fatboy on 7, or my Aristocrat #15. But I do need to keep my angle constant with the Tech to do it
It is possible, it's called wiry grey whiskers which don't all get cut as close as they do with the R41 or Piccolo for that matter.

You can read all over the place that Polsilvers work well with the ASD2: I certainly hope so, as I recieved 200 Polsilvers from my supplier only last week. I also have serveral hundred Rubies, Nacets and Astras, be interesting to see how they work with the Feather.

I've found that a fair number of blades work well in a Feather.

My favourites include Feather, Voskhod, Sputnik, Astra, Polsilver SI, Rapira Platinum Lux, Perma Sharp, Super Thins, Swedes and Spoliers.

Basically, if it works in a Tech, Rocket or an Ikon OSS, it'll work well in a Feather.

If you're regularly cutting yourself with more assertive razors then it's your technique that needs addressing rather than the technique of those who successfully use said razors...

That may depend on the "terrain" as well. I rarely get a cut/nick with a Tech, Krona or a Schick Model M injector set on "5", but when I had & used Gillette New models (both SC & LC) I could rarely shave w/o getting a nick around my chin or mouth area. Just too much blade exposure no matter how delicate I was. I will add however that I have old suture scars on my chin which don't allow any aggression.

Very respectfully, (I am not trying to argue, more debate...) surely if the blade is on the skin then both will get cut at the same height?
In theory yes, in practice no, the skin is not a flat piece of wood that you can plane.
Four years ago the Tech handled my whiskers as well as an R41 now it doesn't.

I completely agree, we're all different, which is why I find it strange when someone finds a razor that suits them but doesn't suit others, they say it's technique.

What I meant when I talked about technique was that a lot of people buy an AS-D2, and then send it back, or sell it on because they say that you can't get a close shave with it. You can read reviews and forum posts all over the internet that will confirm that.
I maintain that once you've learned to hold the Feather at the right angle plus or minus maybe 1°, then it will shave as close as anything. With the added advantage for jittery old gits like me that the blade gap is so small that it's almost imposible to cut yourself. Works for me, YMMV

This is true the feather as d2 does shave at a different angle to other DEs, once you've found that sweet spot it's a beauty, it is down to teqhnique, people buy them and return them without really learning the razor and therefore shouldn't give an opinion as they simply don't know how to use it. If your happy and it works for you thats all that matters

I haven't tried the Feather but as it's based on a Tech I'm assuming it's a very similar shave.
All razors should give you a good shave, it's finding the one that suits and in my case continue to use others for the variety.
The only razor I couldn't completely get on with and it was definitely my fault not the razors, and that was the Phoenix Alpha Ecliptic Bakelite.
