Extro Bay Rum.

Day 2 with the sample and I can safely say that this has entered my 'To Buy' list - it would appear that my Domestic Chief of Staff agrees too! Good news!
Thanks again Ben.

Yes, it continues to find unanimous agreement here too - except that it has no more lasting power than any of the other Bay Rums I have, which is a shame but not unexpected because virtually all the reviews say Bay Rum generally has limited staying power. Ben was definitely right about the Tea Tree... the more you sample it the more obvious it is.

I keep wondering about Ogallala as well but it's only available from the barbershop outfit up Newcastle way and we've discussed them before with generally less than favourable conclusions (that could all have changed though?)

I still have some Ogallala from when they were a bit more reliable. I find that scent tends to have more staying power - especially the Bay Rum and Sandalwood. Though my favourite is the Limes and peppercorn. Which I will be trying to imitate (sort of) using Benjamins Bay Rum as a base soon hopefully.

I'll watch out for that.

More staying power is what I would really like to achieve, either in a bought product or in something I can produce at home.

EDIT. Ingredients list for home made BR moved to http://www.theshavingroom.co.uk/com...bay-rum-suggestions-please.42474/#post-627245

I've just realised that this is primarily Ben's thread about Extro and that I'm hijacking it and taking it off course. I'll remove my ingredients list and put them in a more appropriate place (no comments please :))

I've heard from @JayGee that his sample has arrived safe and sound! I believe that only leaves one more in @flip-68 who I'm anticipating receipt of the sample!

Looking forward to hearing thoughts from those who haven't already commented! :D

hello @Benz3ne - the sample arrived safely - sorry for the delay in replying - i was away (in Marrakesh!) since Friday so only saw that it had been delivered when i returned today. it smells great - will give it a try out on my next shave. thanks again for the generous pif :)

Tried the Extro Bay Rum today & very, very nice.

Quite sweet with a herbal over-tone.
Not like the xmassy, clovey bay rum scents this one has a light & refreshing citrus vibe.

Doing its own thing in a bay rum style is the best way I can describe it. The face feel is fantastic.
Scent is not strong, but, it did (very subtle) hang on in there for a surprising amount of time, 3-4 hours on me.

Do I like it? Oh yes!

Thank you Ben for the generous sample.
Great splash, I'm getting one with my next order from Shaving Station.

i used this for my last shave and really liked it - it hit me with a herbal note. the liquid was quite thick compared to usual aftershaves and it took a few minutes for the bayrum scent to come to the front. usually the bayrum disappears after a few moments but this one lingers which is nice. great aftershave - thanks again for sharing this bayrum :)

Still very much enjoying the Benz3ne special Bay Rum and the Extro Bay Rum.... both courtesy of fellow members. Not forgetting Big Boar's equally delightful stuff too (still no sign of Greg).

(not to mention the other stuff like the Bello and the Pashana, bought recently, as well as the second batch of my own homemade concoction - which matured for four weeks, as opposed to the two weeks of the first batch.)

Does anyone detect a pattern forming?
