Electric shavers....anyone?

I also have a braun from the 90s or so I think. I did use it also then, but not very often, as it took ages and the result was - comoared to the Sensor2 I probably used back then - disappointing.

Also I never understood how this Philishave thing with the huge head and these 3 rotors should have ever worked....

I have an electric (Braun series 7), as I tend to use it on days between wet shaves. As stated, it's zero mess and fast.

That said, the performance of mine has been steadily declining and my face now feels like sand paper by the end of the day.

The Sunday shave has already been switched to a wet shave and if I can find a good brushless cream the Tues/Thurs shaves will go too.

What I'm saying is, wet shaving has ruined other shaves for me!

the blades on these things don't hold up well. and in reality when the price of the replacement blade could buy you say 3, maybe 4 100 packs of derby/astra superior/Wilkinson sword/persona platinum,,, the logic of them saving money goes out the window.
Also your just realizing the damage the electric things do. Tesla used AC current for a reason, hence showing electric machines are not fun..

Not sure my shaver is quite on a par with a Tesla.

I agree about their replacement blades (as do many others). Plenty of comments on Amazon that their new landmark series 9 don't even have replacements available yet, making them all but unusable after a while.

I also begrudge the cost of the cleaning fluid (and the waste it generates).

Hence the desire to shift (almost) entirely to wet shaving. Although I'm not sure that's saving me money... :D

I used to use this one for a full shave. It's really good, and gets quite close if used regularly. It's useless if there's more than 2 days growth.
These days, I'm fully committed and enjoying DE razors, but it's still great for trimming side burns or a corner of my lips If required/I've missed.

IMG_1074.JPG IMG_1073.JPG I've got a Braun Series 7 that I rarely ever use but on the odd occasion I do I use the Lab Series electric shave solution with it which stops any irritation and gets the shave that bit closer...still nothing like wet shaving does !

I used to use a Panasonic higher end shaver for years. I always got a really good shave reasonably quickly - really happy with the performance, no irritation. Haven't used it for 3 years, since I started de shaving, as the electric is just plain dull, but I was always happy with the results.
I can't use multi-blade carts at all.

I had a Phillips with 3 heads... I guess I didn't know how to use it. Or it was just bad. It would always pull the hair and my shaves were quite unpleseant experience.

I tried a couple some years back, it seemed to take a lot longer as I had to keep going over the same areas and I never got a particularly close shave. A modern all-singing one may be better but the cost to find out is prohibitive and it won't shave as close as a blade.

I had one about 25 years ago, then another about 5 years ago. They had come a long way.

That said, they still don't give the smoothest shave, and frankly, they don't save that much time. To get anything like a comprehensive shave still took me about 10 mins. If needs be, I can rustle up a lather and a quick WTG pass in that time that will look and feel like a closer shave anyway.
