Colonial Razors announce GEM razor for 2018

Colonial Razors posted on Facebook, 04 January, that amongst other things, they will be producing a GEM razor in 2018 ☺

Personally I hope it's a bit more assertive than the General, as there's really only one blade option.
I know there are carbon and rehoned or NOS, but mostly Gem SS.

They need to get it right. I have tried the Sabre L1 & ATT SE G1 and far too mild for me, could not get a decent Shave, though by shimming the ATT I get a DFS shave. Replicating the quality of shave that can be obtained with Vintage SE is a tall order.

Hi Derrick,
It must have been extremely galling for you, they obviously did not get testers with above average growth. See Phoenix Accoutrements have now launched their Alu Gem Razor, am standing on the sidelines with that one.

Hi Mike , yes I was looking at it earlier , I actually had one in the basket but backed out , I think I have been mentally scarred by previous encounter's with modern Gem Razor's

A brass Colonial Gemeral would be spot on, as above the ATT GEM was a total waste of time, the new PAA weighs the same as the aly Hawk, too light for me.

Did either of you try the Sabre with L2 (0.9mm gap) base plate? Any better than L1?

Strange how everyone is different the sabre and g1 are probably the best two razors I have owned both give me effortless shaves. I would say my growth is fairly heavy and thick (even if I have a bbs shave I still have a shadow)

No , I must admit I did not , it was still in the development stages when I had my Sabre

Great news. I just ordered PAA Starling Gem type razor. It was just released for sale. $39.95 + shipping. Made out of aluminum.

I haven't had any problems getting great shaves with either the G1 or the L1 & L2.
