Cheap grinder suggestion

I have only used the Hario Slim for my Aeropress and stovetop so far. However, my new Gaggia Classic is waiting for me at home so I will be able to report on how the Hario grinder performs with an espresso machine when I get back (Monday). I have read on a few forums that it is capable of making an 'acceptable' grind for espresso. I'm rather impatient to test it out!

One good mod for the porlex is to take the handle off the top and attach it in the chuck of an electric drill tada.... electric grinder.

See the spindle at the top? I have put a drill on that when I had to grind a lot.

Oh wait, there's a switch above the trigger, changes direction :)

Only drawback is it seems to be a permanent mod as the thread is a bit mullered and the nut wont screw on now. I should have wrapped it in cardboard or something.

Any tips for rescuing a thread? :)

Nm fixed it.

I have been looking at coffee beans.
(Haven't had time to work it out before now)
Mooching around I found this thread.
(I repeat, why EVER do I need to look at any other forums.)
I wondered, Boab (I would do the link thing if I could work out how) if you were still using the porlex and how you
were getting on with it. (Or obviously anyone else if they have had one)
I only ever make for myself although I do like a big coffee first thing.
I only use either a cafetiere (is a metal one still called that?) or one of those little italian kettle stove pot coffee thingamajigs.

I am keen on a hand one. I don't want the noise of an electric.
The porlex seems to fit the bill quite well.
Although am I right that there is a tall and a mini?
They are the same barring height yes?
