Because few seem to know that YaQi make a badger as 99% of their output is synthetic would be my guess.

Yeah, seen that discussion before. I understand the hype on a 30mm silvertip from Maseto, but frankly, apart from the initial WOW, a huge knot might be difficult to enjoy everyday. The OP asked for a "budget" badger, when I read that, Yaqi is the first that comes to my mind, as it is really cheap (less than many synth out there), easy to care, good lather machine with both creams and hard soaps (the 2-band)
 
I wonder why nobody recommends Yaqi. I bought a 24mm 2 band badger with a nice handle (they call it "mysterious space") for 17 EUR shipped. High value for the money, indeed
I've got this and the silvertip variety as well. Both are great, the silvertip is perhaps a bit too floppy for most but the 2-band is great to use. I am tending towards using it as my only brush.
 
Mine for the money is the Stray Whisker 2b finest, top quality.

Others tried, Razorock 400, Razorock Beehive, Semogue 1305, Simpsons Chubby1, Elite Bloody Basin. Fancy a Merv next ;-)
