A lament for lost convenience

have you tried a cartridge razor? ;)

I've been using the Gillette guard recently - it's a great razor. simple no fuss shaving. if these were about in 2012 I may have never bothered with DE :)

I do have one pack of Gillettes in a dispenser pack but unfortunately the blades were all stuck together as one lump for some reason. The only way to get to them was to prize the dispenser apart and then separate each blade. Took about 20 minutes to sort it all out.

My one chance of appreciating the 'easy life' was obviously ruined.

The light oil that the blades were coated with had gummed up over time, proper bummer!

I'll tell you what a real bummer is...they were in the samples you sent me

I was stitched up, I was stitched up

But I shall let you off for being so generous in the first place and introducing me to KaI and Lodz blades. My shaves have never been better

ha ha, the joke is on me seeing as I have a shed load of those NOS blades! Bummer!

My white beard might as well be made of copper wire. With an R41 I get two shaves out of a Feather. A few years ago I would get four when I used Feathers with Merkur Slant. Mind you, now I am retired I can get away with shaving every two or three days, so it amounts to the same blade usage.

Some years ago my preference would be for a Slant with the so called "Gillette Swedes", sadly no longer available, at least in UK. Those Swedes were both sharp and smooth and did come in the Gillette dispenser which I could have used with my notched, TTO Gillette Slim Adjustable - wind that up to 9 and it's nearly as good as an R41.

Feelings? Well I ain't crying buckets, but I did think I had a topic that might generate an interesting conversation, which is what this forum is for.

You might like to try the BIC Chrome Platinum. There is a very good review elsewhere that shows the blade to be almost as sharp as the Feather, lasts longer and is significantly cheaper.

There's a traditional barber's shop on Konstantinou Palaiologou that might. When out for a bike ride I have pressed my nose to the window.

(But we had better not hijack this thread, even if I did start it!)
