Vintage Boots blades - Gillette, not Wilkinson Sword...

Anyone know how many manufacturers of DE blades there were in the UK around that time these blades were sold? (i'm guessing these are late 80s, early 90s?) I think there were only Wilkinson Sword and Gillette producing blades? The packet says made in UK. These dispensers are also exactly the...

Vintage Boots blades - Gillette, not Wilkinson Sword...

Do they look the same as mine, the packaging? Or did you mean that you think the packaging looks like super silvers? :)

Vintage Boots blades - Gillette, not Wilkinson Sword...

Got any pics? I'm not opening just yet unfortunately, but got some free time in a few weeks so I'll try and post back then when I do :) I've got a lot of English Super Silver which are superb blades so happy if they are!

Vintage Boots blades - Gillette, not Wilkinson Sword...

I know the usual old Boots blades were Wilkinson Sword, but anyone seen Gillette made ones? Bought these a while ago and meant to post them up, never seen any before! Definitely Gillette with those dispensers!

    One for Gillette connoisseurs

I find the exact same, the zamak heads shave much smoother for me, I've actually never got on with the brass techs. I can buff the heck out of my face with a zamak tech (and decent blade/soap), but if I try that with a brass tech I'll take a layer of skin off...

    Feather AS-D2

Hi chaps I sold my AS-D2 a little while ago on here and fancy trying it again, anyone got one for sale? Many thanks P.s. can buy or swap for vintage stainless blades, stuff like UK Wilkies, UK Gillettes etc

Eversharp Super Stainless (vintage) Anyone used them before?

First time for me too, had a shave with one yesterday and it was a cracking shave, very similar to UK Wilkies, not quite as smooth on the last pass but still excellent. I'll see how I go with further shaves!

Eversharp Super Stainless (vintage) Anyone used them before?

Hi chaps Anyone come across the Eversharp Super Stainless before? Never seen them before so had to grab them. I think they might be 1970s... Made in Great Britain so I'm thinking maybe made in same factory as the Scottish Permasharps? Not shaved with one yet but will do soon!

    Carbolic Soap

Thanks, I had left it to fully dry for a few months before wrapping, maybe it needed longer. Either way it goes mushy on the sink when the blue power doesn't...I think thats the veg vs tallow though as I find the same with old tallow based Imperial Leather vs the new palm oil version. The latter...

    Carbolic Soap

I bought a couple of big bricks of this and having used it for a while now, i'm not sure I rate it... It goes really soggy and mushy. Some bars I cut and wrapped in greaseproof paper to store them went all wierd and greasy with a wierd smell. I have however tried Blue Power carbolic soap (made...

Boellis Panama - can anyone sell me a small slice?

In fact if you have any other high end soaps that come in bricks (i.e can slice), would be very happy to buy a few samples! Happy to buy or I can trade some modern or vintage blades instead :)

Boellis Panama - can anyone sell me a small slice?

Hi chaps Really fancy trying a high end soap and I've read about Boellis Panama a few times, just wondering if anyone might be kind enough to sell me a small slice i.e. will fit inside an envelope for large letter purposes - I think 5mm is the max thickness? Many thanks GW

    Zero waste/minimal waste shaving

I think a decent synthetic brush would be a better purchase than an animal hair brush as it would last longer. Possibly a benefit too for those interested in the animal welfare side of things too. I used to buy vintage blades (I have too many now, I'll never use them all!) which were produced...

First use of tallow based soap : an epiphany!

Great info and nice to hear i'm not alone with my love of tallow bath soap :) I only use bars of NOS soap so I really shouldn't buy any more but i'm sorely tempted when its 65p for 3 bars in Asda, just looked it up! I use my bars of soap in the shower and in the sinks but my Mrs uses shower...

First use of tallow based soap : an epiphany!

Going slightly off topic here, but still soap and tallow/veg related! I find that the old formulations (tallow) of hand/bath soap perform much better than the new Palm oil based soaps. My main example is Imperial leather soap, this used to be superb, the bars lasted for an age and a day...

    Polsilver

That's me lol, maybe not all the same but I think there are only a few variations of blade but with many many different packaging variations. Do you think each blade is a different grind/coating? Doyou believe polsilver are extinct? It's strange how there is always a shortage then they...

    Polsilver

Lol, they are just generic St. Pete blades, I'm sure they will be back when they do another run in that packaging!
