    S.O.T.D Saturday 21th October - Friday 27th October 2017

Tis a long time since my last post but I thought it about time. I have been proper shaving for about a year now and I have found that despite having a number of brushes, razors, and blades I have come to the rather unscientific discovery. I have levitated to my original razor, brush and blade...

    Wedding day scent suggestions

I would go with all those who suggest getting SWMBO's opinion. I was amazed when my Mrs told me not to wear after shave because she loved my natural scent. All these years later, she prefers the smell of petrol and vicks!

    Cheap Lens Help

Afternoon all I am an occasional user of a camera (photographer would be overstating my abilities way too much) and have an old Canon 400D with its bog standard lens. I also have a non-working 75-300mm lens that I prefer to use but it no longer auto focuses and just makes strange noises. I do...

James, you should be proud of it, it is fantastic. I will be ordering more Captain in the autumn

Rate The Last Film You Watched

I introduced SWMBO to Good Will Hunting. I have not watched it in years and the Mrs has never seen it. Whilst everyone knows Robin Williams was a brilliant comedian and comic actor, his performance in Good Will Hunting was well worthy of the Best Supporting Actor Oscar. Excellent film

    S.O.T.D Saturday 1st July - Friday 7th July

Brush - Semogue 620 Soap - TOBS Sandalwood Razor - Merkur Futur (3) Blade - Wilkinson Sword (1) Post - Thayers Peach Witch Hazel Strange shave this morning. Good lather, but the blade felt as rough and got a couple of nicks which is not at all normal. The blade has been disposed of and I will...

I LOVE my Futur, but I pick the Mingshi 2000 8 times out of 10. I would recommended them without hesitation.

    OSP Barbershop Soap

I have a tub of OSP Barbershop soap that I have used maybe 10 times so it is 95% full. James describes the scents as "Bergamot, lavender, patchouli, cedar wood and a touch of basil to take you back to the roots of wet shaving!" As with all OSP soaps, the performance is brilliant, but...

    SOTD is Bragging?

SOTD demonstrates a pride and a passion for something that is often mundane activity. It shows that no matter what kit we use we are all looking to enjoy the shaving experience and share that with like minded fellows. There are posts every week from guys who have had the fabled BBS shave by...

What are you reading at the moment?

I am 3/4 of the way through Conjurer on the Kwai. Absolutely fascinating account of Fergus Anckorn's experiences as a POW in Thailiand/Burma. He was one lucky lucky man so many times. This one will be a keeper without doubt

Is it time to get rid of the DE razors

I will be using all of my soaps and creams till they are all gone and then restricting myself to 2 or 3. I am a minimalist with almost all of my life, except shaving stuff!

    Mysophobia

My Mrs thinks me a complete dirt bag when it comes to "pre-loved" razors and brushes. I must use the restaurant analogy next time she moans at me.

Anyone tried the D'Aredenne soap that OSP is selling?

I found it to be strong in the in the bowl, but significantly calmer when lathered. Personally, I think it is winter soap as far as the scent is concerned. I would like to compare the ASB and an OSP of the same scent.
