Before a shave I do 50 licks on the felt, and 50 on the leather, after my shave I do 30 on the felt, & 30 on the leather, just my preference, works for me.

Yes I do all the time, it sets my mind at ease, that the edge will be the best possible for that shave. I also do 30 laps after the shave also on both, then oil it, to put back into display box.

Yes for ear lobe, and right under the chin, when doing the 3 phase shave, coming from ear, along jaw line, under chin on the throat, needs much care.
