    Rolex Submariner homages

You might like to have a look on the Steinhart website at the Ocean One black ceramic at around €430 or perhaps the Certina action diver which is a little more expensive. Both mechanical watches with Swiss movements.

How do you choose your watch?

I'm a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to watches and prefer mechanical as opposed to quartz/digital. Would endorse Rufus as regards Seiko.

What's your best Daily driver/blade combo?

Lately it's been a Fatip Piccolo with a Polsilver SI but things could change.

Safety razors, that are NOT made of zamak/pot metal/die-cast zinc...?

I know that a lot of the Parker range have very nice plated brass handles but not so sure about the heads.

    Cleaning razors

A squirt of antiseptic hand wash on an old toothbrush and then a vigorous scrub.

    Parker Closed Comb

I have the Parker 97R and the A1R which is the travel version. I don't use them much nowadays but both are well made razors with the 97R having some heft to it. Prior to buying them I had seen some reports of poor quality control with poor plating etc but both of the examples I have are fine and...

From whom to buy DE blades on Ebay?

I have always had excellent service from Gem Stone Trading which along with an eBay trading platform has its own website. Apart from razor blades they sell a range of shaving gear at very competitive prices.

Can someone suggest a handle for my R41 head.

I've bought a couple of stainless steel handles from Windrose on eBay for use with my R41 and can attest to their quality; but looking on eBay today availability seems very limited. Taffy.

    Cheap shaving brush

I'd recommend the Omega Pro 49 as well. Yes it does take some time to break in but it produces lather like a rabid dog.

    Autotrader - private sellers

Be aware of any vehicle where the seller is desperate to sell as he needs funds urgently to pay for medical treatment or some similar sob story. If you get dragged in there will always be some plausible request for funds up front and you will get conned.

    Fatip Piccolo - finish quality

Up until 6 months ago I was using a 2013 R41 but this has been replaced with a Piccolo which to my mind shaves just as close without the drama. I have read various accounts concerning the build quality of this razor but mine is fine; not as fine a finish as an Edwin Jagger or Muhle but perfectly...

    New aggressive DE

I agree with the other contributors that the Fatip Piccolo could just be the razor you're looking for. Until three months ago I had been using the 2013 R41 as my daily razor but since acquiring the Piccolo it's not been used. YMMV but to me the Piccolo shaves just as close as the R41 is much...

    Don't you hate it when...

IMHO the alum block is only capable with dealing with very minor weepers whereas a styptic pencil will stop most including the odd cut. The downside to using the styptic pencil is that it will leave a white powdery residue once it dries but it's easily wiped away with a damp tissue. Taffy.

    Take a closer look

Try stretching the skin and approaching the area from the side. Works for me.

Or perhaps two 25 litre boxes?

Another vote for the Nivea sensitive ASB.

    Bloody password! How to reveal?

+1 for KeePass, a really useful piece of software and the right price!

    How many shaves per blade

Three sometimes four if I forget to change the blade.

    do you use a moisturiser

Nivea sensitive ASB works for me. Apparently it is very popular with women as a make up foundation due to its high glycerin content.

what brush for new DE shaver

How about a Vulfix 404 mixed badger and boar for around £13 on Amazon?
