I hate it too but - 1. Like or not the customs fee is due to HMRC. 2. The private carrier firm pays the fee on our behalf. 3. They then recover the cost of the customs fee plus a charge for the service. You can argue the fee is excessive (I agree) but in a free market economy it doesn't seem...
