    Straight razor & horn blanks

Hi All, A little while ago I posted that I was going to reduce my collection. I've been undecided on pricing, please tell îf I'm being unreasonable. This is a Sharp Bros. 6/8 near wedge with ivory scales and a lead wedge. I've tried to find info about the company, but failed completely. My...

    Back from a long rest

Hi All, Just reintroducing myself after a long time away. I used to be reasonably active here some years ago, but for various reasons, razors have not been a priority recently. My main interest has been rescuing and restoring old straights and I've accumulated a fair few over the years...

Feather Artist Club SS Razor Wanted

I have a folding SS, use it with pro blades. It's a great piece of kit and much more practical than a straight for travelling. Its a definite keeper. I've never tried to work out how long blades last as I tend to mix and match a lot, but they are pretty durable.

    Lubricating adjustable razors?

Cheapest mineral oil I found was from IKEA - meant for wooden chopping boards but works on all l sorts of stuff.

EKS straight and TV Special for sale

    Both sold, thanks everybody.

    Alum as an antiperspirant.

Used it for years, only thing that I'm not allergic to. If I use conventional sprays or roll on I end up scratching like a chimpanzee. Alum is fine and lasts forever.

How many shaving-related forums do you visit?

This is home but I do go to SRP and TSN. Tend to avoid B&B nowadays so make that three for me.

EKS straight and TV Special for sale

It's a decent little shaver, but I'm not a big DE fan so I don't have much to compare it to. I got it in a bundle a couple of years ago. The TTO is very smooth and it looks very bright and shiny with the minor flaws mentioned above. In practice the bit of plate loss is not really visible as it...

EKS straight and TV Special for sale

I've decided I have to part with a few items as shaving gear is taking over my flat. First up is a nice EKS 5/8 round point in silver steel. The bone scales are extremely clean and the blade is tight and central. As far as I can tell the blade has never been out of the scales and I just gave it...

    Lost in the post-advice required!

Not much help I know, but I bought some stuff from Microfasteners which vanished for ages. By the time it turned up I'd let them know and they had sent it to me again with no problem. Finally appeared with a customs sticker from Venezuela a month later. International post has no logic.

    Aquisitions nov 1- nov 30

LeCoultre frameback with three blades. The blades have all honed up fine and the one I've shaved with gave a really nice shave. There is a really big smile on the blades, but very easy to hone, superb steel. Just need to finish cleaning the horn scales as they were a bit manky. Once that is...

    Vauzy

Love old French razors. Most of mine are framebacks, but once they are properly honed, they shave very nicely. That is a handsome old blade. Let us know how the shave went.

    A thing of Beauty

There was a guy selling one of these and an Eclipse on Gumtree about a year ago for £25 each. I was a bit suspicious but I contacted him anyway but they had gone. That was in NI as well. I can still dream...

    New project - ERN Ators

That looks lovely. I'm going to use mine for a while and perhaps polish them a bit more later - hopefully they will end up like this. There is still some light pitting on mine, but I was keen to get them clean and honed so if could try them out. Now I know how they shave, I may put in a bit more...

    Ugly shavers

I might think it, but I'm too much of a gentleman [emoji4]

    New project - ERN Ators

Glad you like them. A bit too easy to really call them a project, but it's rare that I lay hands on something so nice and I couldn't resist a small gloat. Back to my usual pile of rusty framebacks now I suppose...

    New project - ERN Ators

I'll make it worse and show you the polished blades then shall I? Some superficial pitting, I'm not going to over polish the blades and risk wrecking them. Easy to hone and both shave very nicely. Sorry, these are keepers. Also for interest, this little leaflet was in the box. I've taken...

Vintage Coticules Better then the New ones??

Point taken. I've been browsing SRP/B&B too much and fallen into their terminology. Bottom line is I have a lump of German slate that puts a perfectly decent edge on my blades (given my limited skills) which didn't cost me too much. I'm happy for now, but as always looking for that magical rock...

Vintage Coticules Better then the New ones??

Accepted its quite old (like me). It's one the newly cut MST stones as opposed to one of the lovely vintage Escher's that I can never seem to afford. Seems to work OK though until I can justify something a bit nicer.
