What's your favourite Nanny' soap scent

Ice and a slice, signature for the smell, original for the shave.

    Blade recommendations

Polsilver SI - my favourite everyday blade, sharp and long lasting. Gillette 7'oclock Yellows, Personna Med Preps & Feathers are also excellent.

    Vulfix Bodger

Thanks Mark, My mind must be playing tricks on me, perhaps my time away from the brush has exaggerated it's charms. Glad to here it's still the same high quality it always was. Cheers

    Vulfix Bodger

So I lost my Bodger (Vuklfix 404) on the way back from France earlier this year. I honestly expected it to appeared out of a forgotten and unpacked bag but it's not materialised so I ordered a new one. I unpacked it and it felt wrong. It just doesn't seem so heavy and the finishing on it is...

What are you waiting on to arrive?

Not desperately exciting but I'm waiting on an order from Nanny's for a Vulfix 404 Bodger to replace the one that disappeared from my car on the way back from France earlier this year and some Ice and a Slice hard soap as my signature edition Ice and a Slice is finished. I loved it but it was...

Acquisitions Mon 9 March - Sun 15 March

Thanks for the tip, but I rather like my Vulfix bodger, and I don't think the missus would be too happy with another brush cluttering the bathroom. I'm getting better results now, using more cream than I might expect to have to, but this has the bonus of using it up faster so i can try...

    Should I hear the blade?

I found that in order to get a comfortable shave from the EJ/Astra SP combo I had to change my technique a great deal, much shorter strokes than before. Once I did this I got nice smooth results. However they're not my favourite blade, more middle of the pack. I don't tend to get an awful...

Acquisitions Mon 9 March - Sun 15 March

After near on 5 months of beard growth I decided the time had come to whip out the Slim and give my cheeks some air. I ordered some Polsilver SI blades and, after trawling of the forum for recommendations, some TOBS Mr Taylor's shave cream. Both arrived, beard is removed but I'm not too...

    Truefitt and Hill No.10

I used No 10 again the other day for the first time in ages. Had forgotten how much I liked it. having used BS MR a lot I much prefer No 10. Mostly because I much prefer the smell but it also seems to perform a tiny bit better in most areas. There are better creams but not at £8 a tub, and...

    Inexpensive headphones / in-ear phones

That's true, I've had the volume down about 25% lower since getting them :-) Only downer so far is I'd prefer a right angled bracket at the connection to musical device.

    Inexpensive headphones / in-ear phones

Thanks for the heads up on these. Having previously praised my Motorhead phones they failed me and got quieter and quieter until they were un-useable. Which is a pity as up to then I'd loved them. The manufacturer was happy to replace them for me if I sent them a picture of them with the...

Moved to the darkside........well the phone is grey....

I used to use Avast security on mine, seemed low impact. Never found anything though but I rarely downloaded any app that wasn't' from the Play store and hadn't been downloaded thousands of times.. I say used to as I've moved to Windowsphone. Wanted a change after 6 years of Android.

    Brushless travel cream suggestions?

I've had luck with Lush Dirty shave cream, it's not thick but lubricates well and doesn't need a brush. Smells nice too. Not cheap at £5.50 for 100ml but it is nice.

    Treet Platinum

Didn't' get on with them at all, very tuggy and uncomfortable to shave with. Results OK, but not worth the discomfort.

Anyone else cut there nose while shaving

I've done it, outside of nostril, mad moment, just completely missed where I was aiming for.. doh! They bleed too, boy do they bleed.

    Bodger?

I've not inspected mine that closely, but I think it's inked into an etching, certainly feels slightly rough. Should give it some longevity, though I'd not swear to that. The ink though was slightly lighter than i was expecting and the writing smaller. There's more writing round the back too...

    New brush, new quandry

Initial thoughts on the 404 generally favourable. I put a few test lathers through it before using it, if nothing else to try and subdue the smell - yuck! It's nicely dense and the feel is generally slightly softer than that of my bristle brush, quite like you might expect it to really. The...

    New brush, new quandry

Picked up my 404 from the post office this morning. Was surprised it didn't fit through my letter box until I saw it was packaged in a relatively huge box and padded out with the Sunday Express colour supplement so it wouldn't fit through. It has a nice weight, is much softer than I was...

    4G handsets

Can't be doing with the costs of 4G right now so stayed with T-mobile for unlimited 3G data, which on my shiny new Lumia 1020 is plenty fast enough thanks, much quicker than on my S3. The freedom to not worry about data limits outweighs any speed differential, especially as it cost less than...

    Polsilver Super Iridium

Interesting, it's the only combination I've ever managed to get a 2 pass BBS from, though I prefer my Slim/Polsilver combo on a day to day basis. However, get it right with the EJ and it's amazing.
