    The Shaving Restraint (TSR) 2023

If it helps I haven't purchased any shaving items for around 3 years. So instead of shaving stuff I've gotten into old paraffin lamps and stoves, and as a practical note I'm using my paraffin Aladdin lamp ( not the genie housing ones) to heat my living room, the cost of living has gotten so...

Operation Chrome Dome The restoration of a Tilley lamp.

Hopefully no power cuts. The last time we had one was about ten years ago some little darling decided to set fire to high power cables, only he got fried and we had no power for 3 days. But if the worst was to happen the lamp will help out.

Operation Chrome Dome The restoration of a Tilley lamp.

OK so I've found the problem. I didn't tighten the pump washer retaining nut when I overhauled the pump assembly, resulting in not enough pressure  With a new mantle, it's time to light up the lamp for the first time.

Operation Chrome Dome The restoration of a Tilley lamp.

Thanks, it's coming along, it's not going to be perfect because of the corrosion has eaten through the finish, but that doesn't matter to me as it's an old lamp and the spots hardly show. I've found the fuel starvation problem Mr twat face that is me didn't tighten down a nut in the pump...

Operation Chrome Dome The restoration of a Tilley lamp.

A little while ago Satanfriendly most generously offerd to give me an old Tilley lamp for free with the understanding that I would make use of it, so off we go. The lamp in question is a X246A with a Speculum plated fount, usually thay are painted so it's a premium finish. Speculum is made up...

    Vintage camping stoves

There's a thing of beauty to behold, most people don't realise that replacement parts are still being made for them. As I pointed out to the wife and kids you can take them anywhere on dry land and cook. Even my disabled son has managed to cook noodles on one, although required supervision he...

    Vintage camping stoves

I'd appreciate some photos of the lamp. I think the only problem with them is rust in the fount ( fuel tank) as its a pressure vessel, and the check valve as this requires a specific tool for removal. Lol there are 2 chainsaws that I own, it's just maintenance cleaning adjusting the chain...

Not a good time to crack a joke.

When I was a young lad growing up in Erith, it was normal for people to tell jokes like that all the time, just my luck the new in-laws would be Scottish and Irish
