What are you reading at the moment?

Just finished a couple of books, both by ex-Soldier Doug Beattie. First is 'An ordinary soldier', second was 'Task force Helmand'. Both really well written, a very honest account of two tours in Afghanistan. To prove how accurate his version of events was I managed to track down a documentary...

Neighbour built conservatory on the boundry**UPDATE**

RE: Neighbour built conservatory on the boundry Well (that's) told us all we need to know. You can't win this argument or the Daily Mail will have it as front page news for a week :icon_razz: Seriously though, looking at the fence line, the wall is over the boundary. How are they going to...

    Thrift

My wife and I have a money crisis a few years ago and one of the best things we did was.... get a note pad and pen, put it by the front door. Every time you come in write down what you spent and what for. Then after a few days or weeks, have a look through it. This gives you an idea of what...

    New car

Nice. I do like the A3. A mate had the S3 and I managed to borrow it for a couple of hours. Certainly is a well sorted car and a much better size than the bigger Audis in my opinion. I'm not a fan of leccy hand brakes either.

Dad Savage. Patrick Stewart stars as a Gangster / Fenland tulip farmer. I kid you not. A surprisingly good film, but overlooked at the time. Well worth one to track down.

Last Action Hero (staring Arnie). This was the first movie I went to see with my (then) girlfriend, now wife. my kids didn't want to watch it as 'its so old', but the boys loved it. That'll teach 'em.

Busty nurses 8. Not seen the previous 7, so that may be why I didn't follow the story line. Actually last film I saw was Bullit. I have never seen it, know about it. As I was on the Subject of Steve Mcqueen in the sunglasses thread I decided to watch it at last. Not bad at all.

    Expensive sunglasses I didn't know I needed

I have only ever had £10 sunglasses. I don't know why. They mainly stay in my car and when they are totally knackered, they get replaced. Usually last about 5 or 6 years I would have thought. My current pair are now needing replacing. I also just happened to be reading a book about special...

What are you reading at the moment?

Just finished Dave Gorman, too much information. I do like Dave, but towards the end it was more of a personal rant. But still enjoyable. Tried Mark Urban, Task Force Black, but just couldn't understand why I wasn't enjoying it, then realised its because its a war story told by a journalist...

    Bean recommendation

I'm going to be looking for some beans. For Christmas my wife bought me a vintage manual grinder and a couple of bags of Sainsburys fairtrade beans, Columbian and Kenyan. I put the grinds in a Bodum coffee press. I loved the Columbian, but the Kenyan almost made me sick and was thrown out. I...
