    Merkur blade

I have always loved the Merkur blade and the current Wilkinson offering. However I personally find the Merkur a tad too expensive but I regularly buy the Wilkies. if they were both as bad as some people suggest then good old fashioned market forces would have had them out of production some...

    Modern open comb razors

I have acquired a few OC razors over the years. Of the more modern ones the Merkur 11c is my favourite, however I am led to believe that it was discontinued. I do however have a Muhle R41 (2009 vintage) and it is the mildest OC I own or have used. Works an absolute treat with a Derby in it -...

The Personal Style of Bryan Ferry

UOTE="factormax, post: 659882, member: 57"]I can only echo your own sentiments. I last saw him with Roxy at the Camden Palace (now the Koko Club) in 2005. Close enough to see the stitching on his cuffs. That was good enough for me, and I think it will be hard to beat. You mention Lucy Wilkins...

    slant razors

I am soooooooo envious of that Hoffritz. Can't be helped, sadly. Still on the Slant theme, I have taken delivery today of a Razorock 37 and a spare slant head (for my Merkur travel razor) from the Italian Barber. Despatched on 9/8 arrived today; impressive. Counting the hours until...

The Personal Style of Bryan Ferry

I saw Roxy Music at several different times from the promotion of For Your Pleasure until the launch of Country Life at Newcastle City Hall; every show was magnificent. Suddenly last year my son (now also an ardent fan) bought tickets for El Ferrari at Burleigh House, that too was excellent...

What made your day a crap one??

Imagine my collection of "crap days" when London hosted those Olympics a few years ago! Didn't watch a single minute of any of it. I really am an international man of misery sometimes.

What made your day a crap one??

Listening to Brendan Foster and Steve Cram bimbling interminably and incoherently about athletics. They boil my water.....and I hate athletics.

If you could tweak a soap to perfection, which would it be?

I would like the Erasmic stick to have the consistency and the performance of a Palmolive stick, while keeping the familiar "barbershop " scent.

    Holiday/Travel Kit

I have one of those Parker cases and most razors fit well; it's never let me down.

What Watch Are You Wearing Today?

For the past few weeks I have been wearing my Tag 2000 series (bought in 1994) on a 20mm James Bond NATO strap. I'd post a photo but my phone is a Nokia 105 and my camera is a Yashica J, so you you can appreciate my predicament. I'm just not too modern, sadly.

    Palmolive Classic

I bought the original and the fresh lime a few years ago and I thought that they were both very good. Delivery from India was only about a week if I recall correctly. However (death by cliché time) YMMV.

What's your best budget shave cream?

I have rediscovered Erasmic. The smell, the performance and the cost. ... love it all over again.

Favourite Truefitt & Hill Shaving Cream

I bought the samples too and I am seriously impressed by the Sandalwood cream, balm and cologne. A little bit off topic but I am also a great devotee of the T&H Luxury Soap, wonderful stuff.

Search over, these are as rare as hens' teeth at the moment so an alternative arrangement has been made.

    slant razors

My latest 37c arrived today from the Shack and has just provided a fabulous shave, which I am convinced is because I now know how to align the blade to the razor. There's a definite change to the knurling on the handle though, it's not as pronounced as that of my 11c or 34c.

    slant razors

Interesting thread on B&B about this very topic. The people from Merkur recommend that the razor is held upside down so that the blade alignment is with the cap and the hendle/guard is also tightened upside down. May be worth giving it a bash?
