Old geezer cap

Anyone likes newsboy caps? I do... but I'd look like a peakyblinder ... maybe...

Wow! Great cap. Lawrence & Foster, in Yorkshire, will make you a wonderful hand tailored News Boy for about 43 pounds. Found this cap maker to be a way better deal than the boys in London. Some of London store caps may be actually made in China. What? My cap has a label saying MADE IN YORKSHIRE - ENGLAND. Enjoy your cap.

I believe Stetson caps are made in Germany.
They sure are nice looking caps. Could well be made in Germany. My Google search tells me that the Stetson cowboy hat is made in the USA, but can't find any reference to their newsboy caps. They list Italian and Swiss material for some but no mention of where they are made.

Stetson hats were once made in Philadelphia and all the men who worked at their gigantic factory there were required to wear a hat to work. A friend's father, who was a machinist and differentially not a white collar kind of guy, religiously wore his hat to work every day.

I would hate to think that Stetsons were made anywhere but the U.S.A.

Yes main company headquarters in USA never betted against it but I am all in on caps made in Dresden :)

So, those great looking Stetson caps are being made in Germany. Thanks for finding that info.

Here's some information about when their hat's were made in Philadelphia. Their factory was immense, and had at one time 5,000 employees.

If you were a blue collar man, Philadelphia of my youth was a great place to live. Working class meant your family pretty much had more than enough money and life was good. Everyone owned their houses, had nice cars and many owned summer homes Down the Shore (South Jersey). Factories there mades everything from steam engines (Balwin Locomotive), carpets (Mohawk Carpet), TV's (Philco and RCA) and trains and trucks (Budd). Also published the Saturday Evening Post, Ladies Home Journal, Holliday and Jack and Jill magazines at the Curtis Publishing Co. The textile industry also employed many people. My friend's mother worked in a factory that made lampshades.

I have an ancient Stetson hat that I bought from an Amish kid that was hanging in a barn for $5 in 1995. I used it for years in an historical Old West reenactment group. Weathered & covered in about a pound of bonafide cows&%$ it is. I finally removed the liner as it was so worn. I "discovered" rather quickly why beavers spend most of their time in cold water as that hat sure is hot during Summer!!

The first, and most famous Stetson hat of the Old West, was the legendary Boss of the Plains hat:

That's a great story. Thanks.

When I lived in Oklahoma many of the men who others would consider "cowboys" wore straw Resistol hats. This hat was their working hat. Maybe they wore a Stetson on a formal occasion. Also wore Wranglers, never Levis.
