What are you reading at the moment?

Going to give this a try:

Since the last post I finished Origin by Dan Brown, very good read and follows the usual formula.

Since finishing that I have read the following:
The Book of Tokyo by Various Authors - Collection of short stories, some good and some very odd!
Kusamakura by Natsume Soseki - A beautiful novel which follows its artist-narrator on a meandering walking tour of the mountains. At the inn at a hot spring resort, he has a series of mysterious encounters with Nami, the lovely young daughter of the establishment.

Currently reading The Woman in The Dunes by Kobo Abe. Very good so far, and on the plus side I have finished my Goodreads Reading Challenge of 24 books for the year. Currently on 27, 28 when finished this current one.

I went for 52 on the Reading Challenge. But about half of them will be audiobooks. I spend a lot of time commuting. Congratulations on completing your challenge!

It was an amazing experience, I loved it from beginning to end.

About halfway my wife asked what it was about but I couldn't even tell as nothing had really happened yet in the first 300 pages. It was just as described on the back 'silky smooth' reading.

Now about fifty pages in the new David Baldacci and it's just driving me crazy from time to time, there's this one bit where someone is getting a phone number out of a phone and is 'getting it out of her pocket and keying in a couple of buttons to get the number' .. It's 2017 I don't think people need explaining how a phone number is extracted from a phone anymore. It just feels like page filling.

Totally different with American Gods, nothing makes sense but the way it's written it just works!

Yes I do love a good thriller!

I like a lot of different books really, recent favorites are American Gods, American Sniper and I am Pilgrim but also loved the Kite Runner and Shadow of the Wind.

Ow yes, brilliant series! I think I still have about six to go, actually a good idea to start one of the ones I haven't read!

Have you ever seen the Jack Reacher film with Tom Cruise? I haven't but just thought from the books someone like Dwayne Johnson would've been a better actor to play Mr Reacher!

I couldn't watch the film knowing that Tom Cruise was playing Reacher!
