SOTD 08-May

Prep: Warm shower
Brush: 'Defective' Yaqi
Soap: A&E Barbiere Sofisticato
Razor: Thiers Arminius
Post: Cold water wash followed by A&E Barbiere Sofisticato Aftershave

Ding dong the Mahogany's gone, on to the new efforts. First out with the A&E and the new Yaqi brush. Lathered well with decent glide and I do like the smell on this one so think it'll end up in my routine rotation.

The Yaqi did the job, and did it well enough, didn't retain as much of the soap as the Peregrino so needed to go back to the bowl for the second pass.

The aftershave, obviously liked the smell, but not quite as soothing as some of my others, I may have been a bit stingy with quantity.

All in all though a pleasant shave, hope everyone has a cracking day!

Cheers

Marc

Prep: shower
Razor: Rockwell 6S plate R4
Blade: Gillette Nacet #2
Brush: Semogue HD Boar
Soap: Signature Soaps Hibernia
ASB: Proraso Sensitive
Forgot to use the Proraso pre shave this morning and it wasn't too bad a shave( am I wasting my money ? )Also changed shave to WTG then ATG followed by Across the grain . Still left with a superb result. Researching making my own shaving soap but don't know how I'll explain to my family that the slow cooker smells of menthol etc.

I had noted on the last shave with the Kropp #2, it wasn't as smooth as it used to be, today i completed 5 laps on the chromium oxide powder Balsa paddle and 60 laps on the Westholme leather as a pre shave touch up.
From the 1st stroke it was smooth, that reassuring "Schick, Schick" with each stroke without actually feeling the stubble cut - very nice.
A 2 pass shave routine and a little touch up here and there for a DFS++ finish,
A nice post shave rounding off a very nice shave today.
Stay safe and enjoy your day All.

8/5/21

Pre - Cien Soap Free Facial Scrub
Brush - Zenith Euro X (23mm/56mm Boar)
Soap - Intesa Shaving Cream
Razor - Old Type
Blade - Gillette Nacet Stainless (1)
Post - Witch Hazel
AS - Akcay Tobacco

I'd not used a Nacet in a very long time, it wasn't as sharp I remembered, much smoother too, but I think the Nacet is one of those blades that is sharper after it's first shave. The Old Type is a very comfortable razor with the right blade.

Finished the shave with Akcay Tobacco, which is quite similar to the Denim Original splash.

Pre: hot shower, bluebeards revenge preshave oil
Brush: Yaqi 26mm mysterious space tuxedo
Razor: Dovo black star 5/8 pakkawood
Soap: pino alpestre
Post: cold water rinse , proraso red asl

another great shave with the straight. 2 passes for a dfs shave, then went with one more pass with the hawk for a bbs finish. Definitely need to start using slicker soaps with the straight and improve the stretching, in some areas it felt a bit tuggy - pretty much just around the chin where my coarse hair is the densest. Other than that, only one small weeper under the nose.
Pretty much no stinging at all from aftershave, despite it being a bbs shave.

have a good weekend gentlemen.

An average, but, oh so comfortable shave this morning with the Razorock Game Changer. The Chubby 2 is such a luxury brush and feels it on the face producing a superb lemony lather with Hibernia soap. However, the end result was a little lacking, bad me.
