Omega 10049 Boar - Stirling Ozark Mountain - Fatip Lo Storto Originale/7 O'Clock Yellow - Oudh Khalifa EDP

I have been enjoying this Fatip for a few days now. It really is a very efficient and smooth razor which doesn't seem to get much love round here.
I used to love Ozark Mountain as it always used to remind me of a walk through a pine forest. The performance is excellent.....but I am afraid that now it just reminds me of the gallons of pine disinfectant I must have used over the past year. I may be a while before I use it again!

3 passes for a billiard ball finish.

Another effortless, close, comfortable two pass shave today. I love the Vector almost as much as I love the unique scent of the Dapper Doc’s shaving soap. Wonderful start to the day.

Decided to give the henckels another run out this morning after 7 laps on the CrOx the other day I finished off with 20 laps on the linen before moving to the leather for 100 laps. Had a lovely shave completely BBS with no irritation very nice ! Used a couple of new products..the Murdock London cream and balm really nice was complimented well by the Clarins Men. Feeling smooth and refreshed !FE98CD5E-AC4F-45C9-93B4-F2860B38C75D.jpeg

Straight off, the soap scent to my nose is very similar to @BrianH Signature Soaps Coria- uncannily so
I found it very easy to lather in a ceramic tapas bowl - quite airy initially, but it soon thickened up.
Performance was quite good, with enough protection, glide and slickness
Initial thoughts are good - and I've got two other scents to try - Argumes smells lovey, so thats up next.

9/3/21

Brush - Yaqi 24mm Plissoft
Soap - Vitos Red Coco
Razor - Ball End Tech
Blade - Astra SP (4)
Post - Brut Oceans

I've been cutting off chunks of my block of VRC into a container and it's come to end dregs which are dry and stuck to the corners so I bloomed it which I rarely go. When I rubbed the bloom water into my face, I picked up some irritation almost straight away. Very bizarre, as VRC is a soap I have used hundreds of times, more than any other soap and never had a reaction to.

I still progressed with using it though and with the Yaqi Plissoft, I pretty much obtained one of the best lathers I've had in months. It might be their first synth they launched to the market, and I've owned a few different Yaqis with different fibres but I find my first 24mm Plissoft to be their best performing brush. The lather was the perfect consistency of cushion and slickness and was incredibly shiny as well, a sign the lather had been adequately hydrated.

I thought the blade had run out of steam on it's third shave in the Flat Bottom Tech which is a touch less efficient than my Ball End Tech but thought to give one more shave, mainly out of laziness and I am pleased I did. The blade was definitely at it's best for today's shave, so delightfully smooth. I had a rare 3 pass shave, which was incredibly comfortable and close for it's entire duration.

Really great shave even if my face is a little irritated from the VRC. I'll put the container away and use some other soaps for a while and return to it to see it's causing irritation again, I've had issues with allergies to many soaps before but it's the first time I'm having an allergy to something I've used countless times.

Anyway chaps, I hope you have a good day.

The "White" never to be made again (yeah right!) Yaqi V1 has just given me a very nice shave!
I started off with loading the large Silvertip knot a little more cream/soap than the last run out with the trial cream swirling for a few seconds and picking up more soap. I mixed this up in the Copper Captain, adding a few drops of water at a time until i had a bowlful of nice, slick, shiny, creamy goodness. It felt really good going on the chin.
I started the razor off on 0.5 and found it a bit tame, resetting is simple enough, back off main screw on the bottom, untighten white collar, move dial to required position, re tighten collar and pin. Simple, although, not as slick as any of the established adjustable's but it works well. I settled on #1, i normally prefer a medium razor.
3 very easy comfortable passes for a BBS finish.
For the money you pay its quite well made, the razor comes apart easily for cleaning. I believe the V2 has a different spring, the "N" has been changed to #3 on the settings dial and the plastic collar maybe metal (not sure what).
There you have it, a sub £25 Adjustable razor.
Stay safe and enjoy your day All.

Twig Razor and OSP 'Old Gold'

This is actually a multiple SOTD as I tested the Twig with a couple of different soaps and I used the Old Gold for three shaves.
But...the shaving setup was broadly the same:
Pre-shave wash with Glyce Lime soap, Twig (Mercury finish) razor with half a Gillette Nacet blade.

I tested the Twig first with Proraso green shaving foam (Yes, I used a canned foam!) as I wanted to see how it compared to my usual travel razor...the Mach 3, that I often use with foam.

Two days later, to ensure I had some good beard growth, I tried it with the OSP Old Gold shaving soap.

Long story short...here's my conclusions:

The Twig razor is OK...for the most part, but needs a fundamental design change to properly achieve what I think it's aiming at. It was easy to load and the cap holds the blade securely in place. It shaves nicely on the firmer parts of the face...the sides and WTG. But, I found that ATG and on the softer parts under the chin and around the neck it was a little more prone to sticking. I had more than a couple of very tiny nicks and scrapes and alum and aftershave were both pretty stingy. I came to the conclusion that I think others have commented on: the weighting is the wrong way round. It's all in the handle, rather than the head, so rather than letting the blade fall down the face with little or no pressure, I found myself having to put more pressure on. This is nothing new of course, many razors are weighted this way, but IMHO, not the best ones. I know my own face well enough by now to understand that I like the weight of the razor in the head...maybe the Leaf razor peeps will design a hybrid between the Leaf and the Twig with two blades, still providing the narrower head than the Leaf, for greater precision, but also giving the head more weight than the handle. Maybe they could call it the 'Bud':).(If anyone else has already suggested that name then I'll split my copyright earnings with you!).

The OSP 'Old Gold' shaving soap and aftershave tonic is mostly great...I wanted to try these because of comments on the forum about the Old Spice inspiration behind them. Of course, I wasn't expecting an Old Spice replica, but something that would provide a similar sort of olfactory response. My first test was of course to take a sniff. The aftershave tonic was an immediate hit...I got the Old Spice vibe straight away, and was really impressed when I compared it to my old Shulton Old Spice AS. Definitely different, but there was an obvious connection. Then I smelled the shaving soap...and was rather confused. I didn't get the same connection at all, in fact it was so unlike Old Spice I thought I might have the wrong soap, especially after the AS was so remarkably similar.
I've shaved with it three times now and I still don't get the Old Spice association...to me it's more citrusy and orange in particular. There may be some after-effect but tbh I'm left baffled.
As a shaving soap though it is excellent and the scent is really pleasant, so I would recommend it to others as a really good one to try.

Happy shaving all and stay safe:);)(y)
