Hey @Bizzyberry - great looking brush. I didn't know Mason Pearson did shaving brushes. I have one of their military air-cushion hair brushes - works a treat and beautifully made. I suspect it will outlive me.
What are your thoughts on your MP shaving brush?

Thanks @TomG I picked up this brush from a BST posting for a reasonable price, I really like the look of the brush and it does fit well in the hand. It is quite a floppy brush but it does seem to cope well with soaps as well as creams. The one I have is Super Badger but apparently from what I have read the cheaper Pure Badger version is possibly a better choice as it is supposed to be firmer.

Pre Shave: Hot Shower, L'Oreal Hydra Power Face Wash and Proraso white
Razor: Fatip Piccolo
Blade: Racer (#3)
Brush: Body Shop Synthetic
Cream: Ingram
Post: Alum Block, Cold water and Thayers unscented
AS: Nivea Originals Replenishing balm

I was planning another shave with my new Futur clone this time set on 5 and I also thought I would use some low priced cream and a low priced brush to go with the low priced razor and blade. Last minute change of mind and I reached for the Fatip that still had the racer blade in it. The Fatip delivered a great shave as usual but it did make me think how good the Futur clone was of the last to shaves. Not overly impressed with the Racer blade, very smooth but not very close.

OK where's my plastic disposable razors!
Only kidding, decided after last nights fiasco I would have a safe, easy shave, all my favourites, the infallible r89 with a voskhod Teflon coated, tabac etc.
I now have by far the worst cut to date right in the left corner of my mouth, the blade actually come to a stop with a flap of skin over the top of the blade! Instant blood letting on removal of the blade.
Anyway nothing compared to things I received in the ring during my twenties.
So, I smell blooming loverly, but have to talk through a very narrow mouth which my Mrs is presently finding completely hilarious.

R89
Voskhod Teflon blade
Grosvenor brush
Tabac soap
Tabac deodorant
Tabac lotion
1 suture (only kidding) :)
Have a great one fellas.

Hey @vassili been there too, the worst shaving cuts I have had were with an EJ Kelvin which is the same head as the R89. One of the cuts was when I sliced a small sliver of skin off the side of my nose of all places, I don't shave my nose it just got in the way as it were. Never done it again since needless to say. I stopped using the EJ after that, must dig it out again.

@Bizzyberry - I still have a scar many years later from an overly-hasty first use of a Feather Artist Club razor with a Feather Pro Super blade in it. Ill judged. I'm still scared of it. I

Thursday's shave

Pre-shave - Warm shower, Wright's Coal Tar Soap, followed by Village Barbour Shave Oil
Razor - Hone 15.
Blade - Feather New Hi-Stainless (day 3).
Soap - Tabula Rasa Vetiver & Tangerine Shaving Soap
Brush - Simpsons Chubby 2 - Best Badger.
Post shave - Myrsol "Metilsol" Astringent After Shave, followed by Tabula Rasa Cool (Blue) Aftershave Gel.

Excellent shave again. The Tabula soap is truly excellent - good lubrication and protection and the aftershave gel has great cooling and conditioning effects (I appreciate that YMMV).

Must be strong and try and wean myself off the Hone 15 to try another razor from my rotation. Since December its largely been the Rocca R96, the iKon 101 or the Hone 15 a and latterly the 15. Thinking about the ATT R1 next...

All the best,

Chris

Razor: Timeless SB 0.95, w/ El Druida Titanium & Carbon Fiber Handle
Blade: Personna Star (5) Made in Great Britain
Brush: Elite Razor Amigos Ironwood Beehive w/Envy White
Soap: Route 66 Bay Lime Twist
Aftershave: Myrsol Agua de Limon
Boise Mudworks bowl Blue

An excellent combination of shaving gear. Three passes with a clean up for another BBS shave. Although the El Druida handle is light at 30 grams it worked very well. That surprised me.

Morning, Friday's shave.

Up early, took plenty of time, very enjoyable shave and time to post before going to work.

Pre-shave - Warm shower, Wright's Coal Tar Soap, followed by hot towel and Anthony Pre-shave Oil.
Razor - Hone 15.
Blade - Astra (SP) Green - it was meant to be a Gillette Yellow, however the SP was the last blade in the pack :).
Soap - Tabula Rasa Vetiver & Tangerine Shaving Soap
Brush - Simpsons Chubby 2 - Best Badger.
Post shave - Cold water splash, followed by D.H. Harris Skin Tonic Splash and Cedrat After Shave Cream Gel.

Great shave, needed an extra pass with the Astra compared to the Feather, so today was a 3 pass rather than 2. Skin feels good, no issues.

Have a great day,

Chris

Razor...Supply SE.. Polished, #3 plate.
Blade..Schick #4
Soap...Pre de Provance 63
Brush...SOC Badger
Post...Thayers lavender
EDP...Oud Isphahan

Quite a relaxed and predictable shave with this razor.....always very good. The soap reminds me of Tabac, only with a different scent....also very good. The Oud Isphahan has a warm spicy scent, ideal for quite a chilly morning.

I hope you all have a fab Friday......:)

MWF
Merkur Futur
Lab Blue [ 2 ]
Alum rub/Rinse off
Floid Vigoroso A/S Lotion

Revisiting DE shaving, using The Futur which was my big buy after returning to DE with a little
Wilkinson. Since those early days I have got a lighter touch which is needed for the Futur.

With a great lather from the MWF, the Razor set at 2.5 worked beautifully and I got one of my best ever Shaves from it. I find that despite having a strong beard that the lower setting suits me,
as it can bite a bit higher up the dial. If the clones currently being touted around are as good as the original , users are in for a treat provided they have a light touch.

Greetings

Friday 28th April 2017
Prep: Shower
Razor: Le Coq
Blade: Le Touriste
Brush: Vulfix / L'Occitane Plisson
Soap: DR Harris Marlborough
Aftershave: Simple Moisteriser
EDP: Miller Harris Fleurs De Sel

My first use of this DR Harris Marlborough stick and it is really good soap, it builds a lather easily and provides plenty of slip and leaves the face feeling soft and hydrated even after using a very fierce razor like this Le Coq.
The only down side is the silly expensive price at £10.95 for a 40 gram stick including of course the twist up dispenser which must be worth 50 pence!
This roughly means that the cost per gram is about 20 pence whereas Palmolive is 1 penny and even Martin de Candre, the most expensive substance in the known universe is only 17 pence per gram!

Regards
Dick.
