No Swirling Allowed (According to Simpsons)

Just seen these instructions contained within a new Simpsons Duke 3 brush. It states you should not use circular motions with the brush as this can damage the hairs.

Anyone else see this from other manufacturers/prepared to substantiate the claim of swirling causing damage? Any Simpsons users who face lather that don't use circular motions?

I've not seen this expressly laid out in instructions, but I have always known it because I am a complete genius.

My genius in this instance arises from noticing that I smashed a badger brush's hair a fair bit by trying to lather in swirls, pushing the brush harder against my face as I did so.

Made no difference - I just needed more soap.

But I pushed on with it anyway, swirling and pushing until the brush looked like it had been run over.

Like I said - pure genius, I am.

Ha, OK, good to hear one person's genius anecdote... any more experiences gents?

I have Seen Some Instructions that Recommend the Opposite..They Said that Swirling Can Damage the Brush..It was Kent I Think but I Don't Quite Remember..They were Recommending Straight Line Brushing Strokes & Said Swirling May Damage the Brush..To Me its All a Get Out Clause So if You Return a Shedder they can Say there was Evidence of User Error..;)

I Know that the "Art of Shaving" in the USA are Notorious for this by All Accounts..

Bit confused Billy. That's exactly what Simpsons are saying. IE if you swirl you will damage the brush...

I think a little common sense is required, normal swirling to load a soap and build a lather is one thing but smashing the bristles into your face and swirling like you're trying to shine a penny is going to put stress on the hairs where they meet the glue joint... I think that's all they're warning against.

Having seen some real brush abusers on Youtube I really dont blame the manufacturers for including those directions.

There are some that decimate a brush when there is no need for it at all.

Simpson brushes are overrated & over priced IMO. I have been swirling my Omega boars for a long time & NO Damage noted.!! They do have their Fan Boys though. The object of any brush is to get nice thick lather on your beard.

I have been swirling a Duke 3 in best since November, was all fine till around July/August it has been shedding like a Jack Russell since. Simpsons say shampoo it, let it dry properly and comb it for about a fortnight. I'm going to persevere with it as there's bound to come to a bit where all that can shed will have shed and it'll be OK?
