This blade in this razor is such a smooth effective shave. It's my last one, so I'll push it to its limit.

Prep: Shower
Razor: Valet Autostrop
Blade: Valet Blued
Brush: RazoRock Plissoft
Cream: La Toja Sensitive
Aftershave: Astral Cream (soft)

This Valet blade no longer wished to be kept to a shaving standard on the plain strop alone so I have given it 10 laps on the feox pasted strop followed by 50 on the plain leather and this has restored it to a shaving edge.

I am gradually learning as I go about these old blades, you cannot keep them good enough to shave on the plain leather alone but the feox makes them sharp but rough. It seems one must only use the feox when absolutely necessary followed by very many laps on the plain leather to take away the uncomfortable harshness of the feox edge.

Regards
Dick.

After the usual 1-2 minute hot towel prep:

barbershop burl handle silvertip
Schick F type/Schick Plus Platinum NOS
The Soap Opera Himalaya SS
no aftershave or EdT for whatever reason.

This soap performs real well, especially for a glycerin based item. Plenty of slip and extremely easy to turn into great lather and a scent I like a good bit. Post shave thing is above average for sure.

Only thing is this batch needs watching to make sure the mixing doesn't go too long. Otherwise what can happen is small clumps can form, along with a very thick lather. Doesn't affect performance as I said, but does look a little odd.

BBS results,

Martin

I think that's 5 Micron Dick..You can get the Red Oxide 2 Micron & black 1 Micron from here..I find the Red Oxide is fine to use regular & finish it off with the black 1 Micron to polish it if you feel the need..Also a very light touch is required..Use 5 Micron on those Stropping blades too much will Destroy them quite quickly..:D

Nice soap, easy lather and good performance. Minty and fresh, but not as menthol cooling as I expected. Smooth shave from the razor/blade combo. Good post shave.

They tell me that Art of Shaving Soap is made by Valobra..I have some Valobra & not used it yet..:)

The discontinued tallow version of AoS was made by Valobra, as are Czech & Speake's soaps.

Valobra-made soaps are at the very top of my favourites list and I consider them my desert island soap. You are in for a treat when you get around to using yours :)
