Cella... anything better?

Cella, I've never looked back since the day I tired it, and just bought 1kg of the stuff to keep me going for a bit.

But I was wondering if there is something better out there that's similar? I think it's the coconut oil in the Cella that makes it such a good soap for me, someone who suffers from dry skin which can be exacerbated by some soaps.

Any suggestions?

ive never tried cella, im getting through some valobra almond at the moment. if youre after a good soft soap panna crema is well worth checking out, i have the namaste and the labdanum and theyre very good performers and the scents are absolutely spot on.

Believe me I've tried loads of creams/soaps/Croaps but I still think the best I've used for lathering and glide is the humble Arko stick. Not to everyone's nose but I think it's fresh and for want of a better term quite Manly. Each to their own I suppose.

Arko is great but dries ur skin out. 3p and mwf is the best for me.

I would suggest La Saponeria Artigiana :

http://www.lasaponeriaartigiana.it/

They make an artisan shaving soap that is just fantastic, much better than Cella.

I'm not sure they can ship in UK, but you can find it also here:

http://www.barbieredifigaro.nl/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=480

Otherwise I would suggest Vitos Rosso al Cocco. It's not artisan, but very good as well.

Daniele.

La Saponeria Artigianale soap can be bought online HERE.

Carriage is an eye-watering 21Euro but does allow for several 250g bars to be bought.

This is also almond-flavoured.

Could be worthwhile for group buy some day.

Edit: Just checked Barbiere di Figaro - cheaper carriage, 'just' 8 euros.

Cella is very good. Good lather, nice smell.

Doesn't keep very well though, and when it goes 'off' you'll know about it.

Thanks for all the suggestions, it looks like there are a few to try, Virgilio Valobra and La Saponeria Artigianale, will be high on the list.

Cella is good but I find Tabac better

I would say they are close, but for me Cella is just that bit more nourishing, having said that, Tabac is my second soap, and I've only been using two soaps for the last year.

I love MWF but my skin doesn't after the third shave, and although I tried keeping it in the rotation, as an occasional soap, I find it performed best when used regularly. Which alas would have my skin protesting.

Great, that looks very tempting.

Hi Joe,

This has me slightly worried having just bought 1kg of the stuff. I had though that should be 4-5 years before I run out, but I wonder if it will go off before then. How long did it last you before going off, and can it be frozen?

Thanks again,

Chris

I love Cella, but I get the same quality lather results from Mitchell's wool fat and I'm much taken with my new acquisition Tcheon Fung Sing bergamot & neroli Italian hard soap, I do have extremely soft water where I live and this must certainly make a difference after reading so many failures throughout certain parts of the UK.
